Water Main Improvements to Require Temporary Closures on E. Algonquin Road and Deane Street

DES PLAINES, IL – As part of the City’s 2026 Capital Improvement Program, installation of a new water main on E. Algonquin Road is scheduled to begin the week of October 19, 2026. Berger Excavating will complete the work, with oversight from the City’s Public Works Department and its engineering consultant, Trotter and Associates.

E. Algonquin Road and Deane Street will be closed to through traffic for approximately four weeks. Motorists should plan alternate routes and follow posted detour signs. 

Parking will not be permitted on E. Algonquin Road or Deane Street during the closure. Residents who need driveway access are encouraged to park on nearby side streets. Refuse collection and mail delivery will continue as scheduled. Residents directly affected by construction should receive a notice with additional information.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather or material availability. The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during construction.
