- A comment or external link posted by a member of the public on any City site is the opinion of the commenter only and publication of a public comment does not imply endorsement of, nor reflect the opinions or policies of the City. The City is not responsible or liable for content posted by any subscriber in any forum, message board, or other area within its social media.
Comment Guidelines:
Comments should NOT include:
- Information or comments not related to the subject matter of the social media site where it is posted.
- Graphic, obscene, explicit, abusive, threatening, hateful, defamatory content or content that compromises the safety or security of the public or public facilities, or suggest or encourage illegal activity.
- Content of a purely insulting nature directed at a particular individual. The City’s business relates to the public at large, and comments should reflect matters of public concern, not matters that are personal or private in nature.
- Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, age, gender, marital status, national origin, physical or mental disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation, will not be tolerated. This includes any comments made by persons whose profile picture or avatar contains any of the above-mentioned content.
- Content that contains threats to the safety of others will be deleted, whether directed at an individual or to the public at large. Such threats include inciting imminent lawless action, fighting words, and true threats.
- Solicitations or advertisements, including promotion or endorsement of any commercial, financial, non-governmental, non-profit, or religious agency or organization. The City reserves the right to post advertisements or commercial messages, which are approved at its sole discretion.
- Content that infringe the intellectual property rights of others (such as their patents, copyrights, trademarks, service marks, trade secrets, etc.).
- Spam, including but not limited to: commercial advertising or promotion, political propaganda, virus-infected links or attachments, automated comments created by artificial intelligence or “bot” accounts, and fraudulent or misleading content.
Interactivity
Official City sites may “like” or “follow” the social media sites other entities, including, without limitation, local, state, and federal government organizations, organizations that receive direct financial support from the City, generally recognized community or not-for-profit organizations, organizations that promote tourism, industry, and economic welfare within the community, and businesses located within the corporate limits of the City.
