February 12, 2026:
The City Of Des Plaines, with support from Antero Group, hosted a public workshop on February 12, 2026, to gather community input on housing needs, preferences, and design priorities for the Des Plaines Housing Study. Using interactive boards, postcard comments, and open discussion, the workshop was designed to meet residents where they are—both physically and in their familiarity with planning topics—so participants could provide meaningful feedback on housing types, neighborhood compatibility, and affordability.
December 2025:
City staff have partnered with a consultant, Antero Group, to update the Housing Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan. This update will take a fresh look at current housing conditions, needs, and trends, and will help guide future housing policies and programs.
The study is in progress and expected to wrap up in 2026. Community engagement activities will begin in early 2026. Additional details will be added to this page as they become available.
