October 22 Update: Commonwealth Edison is constructing infrastructure improvements at Rand Road and the Union Pacific Railroad crossing. Due to utility conflicts, the schedule has
been modified and work is expected to be completed by November 21.
Rand Road will be closed to all traffic at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing just northwest of Graceland Avenue. A posted detour will direct drivers to use Golf Road and Des Plaines River Road.
The project includes installing multiple electrical manholes and duct packages to support utility expansion.
Motorists should anticipate delays and give themselves extra time for trips through the area. Drivers are advised to pay close attention to detour signs in work zones, obey posted speed limits, and stay alert for workers and equipment.
